If you look closely at this cutting board, you can see that the outside edges of the board are edge-grain and the top and bottom surfaces are fine-grain. Your final grain cutting board will be easier on your knives and will show less wear over time. The surface is sometimes called self-healing, especially when it is finished with mineral oils as we have done. Personal: The table can be customized on either side with a family name engraved to measure and year with the font of your choice.Process: My process starts with the joiner, rair and table saw to ensure that all hardwood boards are flat and straight. After this, the boards are milled in different widths and glued alternately with the walnut and maple pieces. Once the glue is dry, the assembled board is then scratched and flattened once again.
Then, for the second time, the board is milled into strips, then re-bonded to arrive at the pattern of the checker type. Finally, the board is sanded to ensure perfect flatness before the juice grooves and handles are sent (see attached photos). And finally, this cutting board was finished with several layers of mineral oil and final layers of beeswax and canuba wax, all products safe for food.
