This is a fabulous example of an ancient Edwardian tin tongue dish. Featuring a scrolling and tongue pattern on the center of the black transfer print plate, this is an excellent example of a tongue plate, dating from the early 1900s.

At the time, these plates would have been used in butcher shops to display the language she had for sale, which was a popular dish at the time. They make excellent display pieces as part of a kitchenalia or white iron stone collection. This plate is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. There are some crazy spots and small areas of age spots, especially around the edge of the plate and on the outer edge of the back of the plate. The impression of transfer is still extremely clear.
