Antique Japanese Lacquer Food Stand (21n-159)

  

It is an ancient Japanese wooden lacquer holder called ita ashi takazen from the middle of the meiji period (1880-1890). Ita ashi means panel feet and takazen means large board/support. This is used for special occasions such as marriage, New Year to place food on top. It is decorated with a good omen pattern on the nashiji.
