Hawkes crystal centerpiece bowl, compote, betty border pattern, flowers and spoils, hawkes mark on bottom, hard to find. A magnificent compote of hawk crystal masterpieces hard to find.

The pattern is betty border and consists of spoils with flowers around the rim and there is a flower in the foot of the bowl. It would be an elegant masterpiece on a dining table, buffet, or coffee table. It would make a wonderful and perfect gift for a collector. Corning, ny was one of the best American fine crystal producers. The company was founded in 1880 by thomas gibbons hawkes, who emigrated from Ireland at the age of 17.

The hawk glasswork was used at the white house from 1885 to 1938. The company logo was a trefoil form locking a falcon in each of the two lobes at the bottom with a fleur-de-lis in the center and this brand is on the bottom of this wonderful bowl. 9 3/4 inches on top. 4 1/4 inches through the base. The bowl is very heavy.

This compote is in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks. There are the usual scratches on the bottom of the shelf wear. The company logo is still easily visible on the background.
