Square Victorian kettle in English copper. Vr Crown mark - 19th - copper, brass. This unusual 19th-century copper tea kettle was made of angleterres. It bears the printed mark v crown r on both sides, which represents victoria regina. The brand was in use from 1837 to about 1876.
The mark does not mean any royal connection other than the fact that the object was made during the reign of Queen Victoria. The small kettle would have been used at the table, rather than to heat water on a stove or a fire. The kettle is about 20 cm high to the top of the brass handle.
The body of the rectangular cube measures about 15 cm x 11 cm. The fixed handle, the flagship of the lid and the four feet are made of brass. The swanneck beak has a lot of welding where it joins the body, it may have been repaired.
Welding visible at seam level is normal. There are a few minor bumps and bumps, certainly less than you might expect for a domestic kettle of about 150 years like this one.
